My Perfume Collection as of February 2023
Although I am just starting this collection, I want to showcase these perfumes to give a sense of what perfumes I find to smell the most attractive. I gravitate to the amber floral fragrances when selecting perfumes for myself.
Within this collection, this is the number of times the scent is mentioned:
Musk: VI
Rose/Turkish Rose: V
Jasmine: IIII
Amber/Amberwood: III
Tonka Bean: III
Orange: III
Vanilla: II
Lily-of-the-Valley: II & more
Disclosure: I used the website fragrantica.com for these perfume pyramid notes.
What are perfume pyramid notes? How I understand them is that the top notes are what you first initially smell, then the scent disappears over time. Next, I like to think of the middle notes as the interaction of notes in the perfume with your own skin. This middle note gets me in trouble sometimes when trying on perfumes because I often buy the perfume on the spot rather than giving it time to settle onto my skin thus making the perfume smell differently than when I purchased it. And lastly the base notes of perfumes are the same as any another ‘base’ of something. Whether it is a base of cheerleading stunt group or a base guitar in a band, bases are there to support the unit and give gravity to the perfume. Most of these top and middle notes comprise of the citrus and floral elements to the perfume, while the base notes consist of musk, woody, and amber notes. I was surprised to see the perfume pyramid breakdown of my collection. I was expecting more vanillic notes because I thought my perfumes resembled sweet, pastry-like scents. But that’s why I am learning and teaching my nose to pick out the notes and accords!
This ScentLena website will feature more in-depth analysis of the fragrances, incorporate their history, and my own stories associated with the perfumes.
Thank you for reading, and I hope you have a beautiful day!
