I wanted to jump on this page to talk about my husband and my adventures to another city and finding a unique perfume store today! The store is called Urbani 1964 SRL and it is in Bassano del Grappa, Italy.

In Europe, it is common for stores to close for a couple of hours in the afternoon for their lunch breaks. With our luck, the store happened to be closed when we first arrived in the city, so we got to check out the city first.

Bassano del Grappa is a town not too far from where we are living in northern Italy; however, we had never traveled to it before today. We were so surprised at how large the city center was! Even though it is a smaller city, we were able to discover beautiful bridges, peruse ceramic shops, indulge in gelato, and enjoy aperitifs while observing the locals.

Now, speaking of the perfume shop! In addition to perfumes, Urbani 1964 SRL has make-up, skin care, hair care, sun care, and home care. I discovered this perfume shop when I was researching the nearest perfume shop that supplies Maison Francis Kurkdjian fragrances. When we finally got to check out the store, it had so many different rooms and right where the Maison Francis Kurkdjian perfumes were, there was a man playing on a grand piano! It is surely an upscale store, and I had the best time exploring new perfume collections. Although we did not make any purchases, I was able to test many new perfumes and see how they smelt over time on my skin. To be more precise, the perfumes I tested were ‘Room Service’ by Vilhelm Parfumerie, ‘Rolling in Love’ by Kilian, and Acqua dell’Elba ‘Arcipelago’ and they were all Eau De Parfums. Now I will give them a quick rank them based on their longevity, my personal scent preference, and price. Starting off with ‘Room Service’ it had a normal wear longevity, it resembles its name in a way that is powdery with a clean, musky scent, but it is on the pricey side. Despite being the last pick of the three, it is a great scent for the spring. Next, the ‘Rolling in Love’ by Kilian is different from the scents that I am usually a fan of, but it was nice to venture out. After about a half hour of wearing it, the scent drastically changed while interacting with my body temperature that it started out as a vanilla/floral scent to a nutty, chocolate aroma. Given that I also just sprayed it on one area on my arm, it was hard to test the longevity of the perfume. I have never had a perfume change so much while wearing it before, so that is what stuck out to me the most. Price-wise, it was a little more expensive than ‘Room Service’, yet you can get by with wearing less sprays of ‘Rolling in Love’ so the bottle could potentially last longer with average perfume wear. I rank ‘Rolling in Love’ as my second rated perfume of the day. Finally, Acqua dell’Elba ‘Arcipelago’ might have been the right perfume at the right time, but it was overall my favorite perfume of the day. It is of the floral group, but it has wood and musk base notes. ‘Arcipelago’ is a perfect summer scent that is just different enough that it stands out to have a good blend of all things relating to aquatic, floral, and citrus notes. This perfume is most comparable to my wedding day perfume ‘White Tea’ by Elizabeth Arden, but rather ‘Arcipelago’ has the added character of moss and more white florals that make it more complex. This perfume is the least expensive perfume of the three. Overall, I am glad that I tried these perfumes because I got to learn new notes such as helichrysum in ‘Arcipelago’ and freesia in ‘Rolling in Love’.

As I am editing this post on July 16, 2023, Urbani 1964 SRL will be closed for their holiday until they reopen on August 27th.
